Lenses are available in a wide variety of configurations (e.g., singlets, achromats). They also are available in a wide variety of materials including several types of glass, as well as sapphire, and synthetic fused silica,Zinc Selenide,CaF2,Germanium.
Lenses often include antireflection coatings to reduce reflections from the lens surfaces. Most singlet lenses are available both uncoated or with antireflection coats. Most multielement lenses include single-layer MgF2 antireflection coats standard.
